From praying 4u to praying 4 u
I used to pray with trembling hands, For you to stay, for love’s demands. For fate to weave our names as one, For nights with you that met the sun. I begged the stars, I begged the sky, "Let me be his, don’t let him fly." I whispered hope in quiet pleas, That love would root, that love would breathe. But prayers change when hearts must break, When love turns into give and take. And so, I fold my hands once more, Not for us, like times before. I pray for you to rise and shine, For love that’s whole, for peace that’s kind. For joy to meet you at your door, For dreams that ache your heart no more. I pray you laugh, I pray you grow, I pray you never truly know, The way it feels to stand so still, Loving you, against my will. So here I kneel, my final plea, Not for us, but just for thee. For though my heart still beats your name, I pray you never feel this pain.
