friends
Why Bother with Friends? What's the point in friends, I often ask When one minute they're with you, the next they've passed From laughter and joy to mocking and jeers Leaving behind nothing but pain and tears Is it worth opening up, sharing our hearts When they can be broken, torn apartBy those we once trusted, called our friends Now, just another means to their selfish ends We try to connect, to build a bond But in this world, it's hard to respond When everyone's looking out for themselves Leaving kindness on the shelves What happened to the days of pure friendship Where loyalty and trust were a sacred kinship Now it seems like a game, a competition To see who can cause the most devastation We crave the company, the sense of belonging But is it worth it when it's only wrongingOur hearts and souls, bruised and battered By those who we thought truly mattered But despite the hurt and the shame There are still those who remain True friends, through thick and thin Whose love and support never thin So perhaps it's not about the number But the few who we can always rememberAs the ones who stayed true, through the highs and lows Those are the ones who make friendship glow.
