Fragments of a girl
Every moment she stood before a mirror, she felt nothing but a hollow surge of hate and disgust. She had learned to distrust every compliment, and every admiring gaze, convinced they were nothing more than a cruel joke. Her brown eyes, once a favorite feature, had begun to blur. Her hair, once long, black and wavy, now cropped, faded and stubbornly straight; not a single curl would hold. She was once so confident in the person she was becoming, until that growth transformed into a bitter disappointment. Both her physical and mental strength were overthrown by a single fracture in the world that had created her. Now, she is an angry, sad soul, watching her childhood memories fade by the day. Every morning she wakes with the fragile hope of healing, yet every night ends in the same hollow let down. She tries to hide these broken pieces of herself, shrouding the girl she used to be. But the mask always shatters, the moment she steps back in front of a mirror.
