fragile distance
I carry my heart in pieces, sharp and cold, A jigsaw of secrets, too fractured to hold. I wanted to trust you, to let someone near, But the fear claws my chest like a shadow of fear. So I reach out in fragments, with trembling grace, Only to find you whispering, "I need space." Like smoke, you drift from the warmth of my touch, And I wonder if love was too heavy, too much. Do you see the hollow I built in my chest, Where loneliness settles, making its nest? I was ready to share that broken place, But you drifted away, leaving only the trace. How do I stop this cold descent? When love feels like silence, like absence, like end. Perhaps we’re meant only to haunt, not to stay— Two ghosts, bound to keep slipping away.
