Forsaken
You hold the sword, I hold the shield— from the very beginning, I knew you had the advantage. But I fought. I looked into your eyes, indicating that I needed you, that I was slowly running out because my only weapon was a shield. You looked too, yes— but not in the way I expected. You avoided me, like a voice in the air, like a cry that you didn't catch. As I tried to reach you amid the echoes of the battle, I didn't notice that they were slowly winning, that I was slowly running out too. And you did nothing. You let me get wounded in the war that you should have stopped, in the war that you should have fought first for me. But you didn't kill them, nor did you try to take a step. Because the truth is— the time you didn't fight for me, you killed me. You were the one who slowly drained my remaining strength. And I, I was the one who fell holding the shield in the battle you never joined.
