Forgotten child
In the quiet house I sit, unseen, A name whispered only in dreams. Voices rise, and footsteps fall, Yet no one hears my silent call. At the table, I find no place, Just empty smiles and a missing face. They talk, they laugh, they live their days, While I drift in the shadowed haze. Not the firstborn, proud and praised, Not the youngest, sweet and small But the one who drifts, between them, Unseen among them all. Birthdays pass like fleeting light, No candles, wishes, just endless night. Love, a distant, fading star, Watch them live, from afar. Once I thought they'd turn, they'd see, The child who aches to simply be. But time has shown, I'm left behind, A fleeting thought, a lost, blurred line. Yet deep within, a spark remains, A hope that fights through endless pains. Perhaps one day, they'll look my way, And see the child they forgot today
