fool's gold
my heart is a treasure chest. shielded by ribs of steel and a sternum as strong as my mother's stubborn clean-freak mindset during our assigned spring cleaning day precious childhood memories of family festivals of food that we made together sparklers and fireworks of a child's curiousty with that special ingredient— love. a fluttering feeling in your tummy with rose-colored butterflies delicately landing on your flushed cheeks, that beautiful ray of pure sunshine shimmers down through the valley and kisses your little treasure chest as the chains unravel and the lid begins to open— betrayal. shadows cast over as cracks of horror and hurt splattered on like marbling are suddenly engraved on your shy, innocent beating heart as if that "ray of sunshine" poisoned this fucking thing called, "trust—" // my... heart... is a treasure chest. no longer do i carelessly open to show this cruel world the value of my golden heart. no longer will there be maps guiding greed, corruption to my naive treasure. no longer will there be moments of— hesitation. where hungry eyes obtain this key of trust to open the lock of my beloved treasure chest— no longer, will i fall in love. and sacrifice— my treasure.
