Five months: My open wound
In January, we built a castle out of late-night calls, "Best friends forever," swore we'd never fall. By February, the walls began to shed their stone. Just "close friends" now, a slightly colder tone. March arrived and stripped the titles bare, Just casual "friends" who passed upon the stair. Then April came, and Rain came too fast May left us strangers at the last. Five months to watch a lifetime's bond undo. I’m still not ready to let go of you, They tell me move along, but I’m still bound, Tracing your phantom footprints on the ground. I hold the good days close, the bright, clear grace, And even the bad days time cannot erase. They proved we cared enough to hurt and fight, Before we drifted out into the night. But oh, I wish the ending never came. I wish you still called out my secret name. I cherish what we had, through sun and rain, I only wish we had didn't end, the pain.
