First Choice
I wonder if she hears the ache woven in the silence when I wait— a breath unspoken, a wish unseen, a love that lingers in between. She walks in light, untamed and free, yet never turns her eyes to me. I stand where shadows softly fall, a second thought, a fleeting call. I am the warmth she seeks at night, but never the fire she sets alight. The arms that catch her when she breaks, but never the hands she longs to take. Tell me, love, do you ever see the way my world bends towards thee? The way my heart, a steadfast tide, returns to you, though cast aside? Would you ever whisper my name like it was the only one you claimed? Would you ever turn and say, "You, my love, not just someday— but now, but here, but all the way?" Or am I just a passing dream, a place to rest, but never be? A light that flickers in the dark, but never bright enough to spark. I would give you all of me, if only you would choose to see— that loving you is not a choice, but being yours would be my voice.
