Finding Meaning
The voices in my head tells me I'm fine. Even when they are ripping me apart. They point out all my flaws all the time. When I look in the mirror they start to attack. Every single thing wrong with my face. So I cover it up and wish it could be replaced. I blast music to drown out their voices. It upsets them and they go in search of memories. Assault me with my past so I have no choice. But to give in and let them have control of me. I use alcohol the help deal with them. And it's a habit that will bring my life to an end. My therapist says to let them out in my writing. So I picked up a pen and page and started. I was writing with no purpose wasn't thinking. That's when I noticed the voices quieted. My miracle happened at the end of a page. For the first time in a long time I was center stage. The voices are still there in the shadows. They will always be a part of me. But they no longer hold such power. And I'm thankful to be free. Even if freedom only comes when I'm writing. At least now I know my life has meaning. © Deoneloko
