Finding a Shell
As night gives way to the moon and stars, her mind gives way to thoughts that burn like wildfires that won't stop. Yearning for a monsoon to drench the fires that are thoughts and scenarios in her head. Ashes float in the air; Memories on a breeze. Trees burning they whisper words unspoken and spoken in her ear, reminders of dreams and prophecies. Small screams in the distance draw her near to an old elm tree; searching beyond the smoke of the truth and lies she knows, she finds a shell of herself tied down by vines of ivy... looking beyond the thickening smoke her eyes focus on so many shells, so many once upon a times and to many 'I'm different's. She realized slowly she must lay down here to shed her shell, to burn in her thoughts and find who she could become for herself so she no longer needed to shed a shell.
