Fighting
A burning coal within my breast, A whisper in the quiet night. It promises a fleeting rest, And tempts me from the guiding light. My spirit aches, it longs for grace, To walk the path that God has shown. But shadows lurk in this dark space, A seed of worldly pleasure sown. I kneel and pray, I seek release, From chains that bind, from paths astray. I yearn for purity and peace, To cast this earthly dross away. Oh, Father, mend this broken will, Renew my heart, and make it clean. Let faith my hungry spirit fill, And quell the pull of what has been . For I would serve You, pure and true, With every breath, with every deed. Transform me, Lord, and make me new, Plant in my soul Your righteous seed.
