Fear
I can feel it wriggling inside me waiting to come out It claws It scrapes It eats away at me digging. I can sense it climb my ribs like a ladder, crawling under my skin. Please don't spill out I can't let them know Confidence is a shield and it's the thing that breaks through all defense but not this time. I swallow hard keeping it contained I shut my eyes tight and close up my thoughts be happy be happy be happy but I can feel it try to pry open my throat and pull open my jaw With my mouth ajar, out it spills toppling onto the ground like slushie vomit vile disgusting It turns around to stare at me and I, in return, reluctantly stare back.
