Fear
This existence is full of dread Shadows slowly nipping at our legs Each day full of frightful news Seemingly worse than the previous muse For what is fear but the absence of security The rush of adrenaline full of anxiety With each passing breath, ticking the count What is a life spent only on fear? To learn to love fear is a goal To understand the root of that tree For fear drives us to unlikely places To find that which replaces with glee For I have found what strikes fear down For I have chosen to pursue The refusal to let fear drive me And in its place, love Kindness and compassion Happiness and joy These are the enemies of fear My allies in this war You have bolstered the troops Brought forward a strategy Reminded us what was worth for war I shall not kneel to fear, only to you Thank you for the reminders That I am not painted only in black For that I am so much more That I was once painted with gold
