Farewell Almost Denied: Feb 16
In the early hours of February 15th, 2023, A day that still lingers, etched in memory, Awakened by shouts, a familiar refrain, Racing to my mom, her words filled with pain. "I must go to the hospital," her voice slurred and weak, "Call grandma," she urged, her tone bleak, So I do as she says. Paramedics arrived, a somber scene, Her overdose attempt, the truth is now seen. I reached out to her friend, to share the news, But hurt struck deep, suspicion did infuse, Accusations hurled, a wound unfair, In times of darkness, compassion was rare Prejudice born from rumors and lies, A stab to the heart, a friendship's demise. Talking ill of me, a twisted attack, Her misguided words, my heart set aback. In my struggles, you were blind, Never caring, always confined. All of you, who knew the strife, Left me alone, carrying life. Within me, dawned the truth so clear, Backs turned swiftly, in my moment of fear. February 15th, a bitter pill to swallow, A day of heartache, emotions hard to follow. In that instance, the writing became clear, Aware that support would vanish, fueling my fear 8/16/23
