fantastical memories
I packed it in a box... The cardboard's as straight as iron. It's Folded precision wrapped in a bow of nylon Sometimes it's tempting. For I know what's within One pull of the bow And I'd be there again Indulge in the memory Let it wash over me To dig into scabs To Reread stories Temptation's a tether... and indulgence mends severs. What feels as light as feather Is the devil's treasure I can't let things heal to rip them open again. It's not fair to my cells that work so hard to mend I'll leave it a while Til my wrinkles are deep set- paths telling of life with the box gathering dust. Then Maybe one night, under the stars, I'll be eighteen again
