Fall's Beginning, Summer's End
We knew this really wasn't love When we started in the spring. Me, I just was out for fun: Pal around; that sort of thing. Do you think we can be friends, Will I see you in the fall? Or is summer where this ends, To no more ever speak at all? When I sit alone and watch The summer sun rise or set. I often think there is a chance, But I haven't found it yet. Then my thoughts begin to turn To our future; just us two. That, if we should really try, I know we could make it through. This summer break has been fun, We took the time to know each other. We hiked and swam; we took some sun, And we learned from one another. But autumn leaves are soon to fall, And the summer will be gone. We'll be on our separate ways, Just you and I, and both alone.
