Fake Gray Hairs
I think it's awfully sad To watch the puppy you have Wither away to an old gray dog How their eyes grow cloudy You have to speak a little louder You no longer have to run to keep up But it's even sadder To know I will never know How you look with gray hair All I saw were those eyes full of life I would whisper to you I ran and ran to try to keep up with you I never saw my puppy grow into a dog I had to watch life slowly bleed Out of those youthful eyes You never even made it to two Something we thought you would live passed to I thought I would have you till you were twelve Not even two I had to watch this healthy puppy Wither away in my arms And try to imagine you with gray hairs I wonder about our life I wonder about the short time we had Did you feel loved Did you feel full Did you feel warm Because I felt all those thanks to you I never got to see you slowly slow down I had to hold your broken body and whisper to you I wish I had to yell for you to hear me I had to tell you to go Instead of wait a little longer please I wish I knew how gray looked on you But all I can do now is imagine It's sad watching the puppy you love grow old But it's sadder having to imagine How your puppy might have looked With gray hairs
