Fading Wishes
At school, a young heart, filled with grace, Dreamed futures bright, in time and space. Success I wished, a helping hand, To lift the poor across the land. Money's gleam, a hopeful art, To mend broken souls, give hope to every heart. I yearned for unconditional love, so pure and deep, A kindred spirit, promises to keep. For family's life, a better, brighter way, And justice served, to greet each new day. For luck to turn, where shadows lay so grim, A whispered prayer, upon a silent whim. But years have passed, and hopes have turned to dust, Each fervent wish, betrayed by time's harsh rust. The bright-spun dreams, now tangled, frayed, and thin, A colder truth, where warmth had once been. No helping hand, no love's soft, gentle light, Just shades of sorrow, deepening the night. And everything, it seems, has grown more dire, A dying ember, in a cold, dark fire.
