Fading
In the quiet pulse of night’s embrace, I feel my soul begin to wane, A shadow lost in endless space, A flicker in a sea of pain. Each breath a ghost of what it was, A whisper drowned in echo’s hum, The world turns on without a pause, While I succumb, while I succumb.Fading like the light at dusk, Eroded by the hands of time, A memory in forgotten dust, A silent chime, a silent chime.Eyes that once held fire bright, Now dim, now cold, now gray, A phantom slipping from the light, Into the night, into decay. No hand to grasp, no voice to hear, Just the slow, relentless fade, A dance with death, so close, so near, In shadow's shade, where I am laid. And in this final, fleeting breath, As I dissolve, as I depart, I find the peace within the death, Of my fading, broken heart.
