Faceless Memory
I know you Maybe in a distant memory that’s been far long gone Or maybe it’s just lost, lost under a dense fog that I can’t clear In the back of my head, a thick smog sits over memories I can no longer identify People, mostly People from my childhood I guess they seemed important at the time, like no matter how hard I tried, I simply couldn’t forget their face I remembered every detail, every mannerism, even But now, every time I try to remember who you are, I can only remember your name. Your face is bleared and unfamiliar Isn’t it frustrating when you can’t put the name to the face? Truly, what is the name without the face? Yet, I remember the way you treated me With kindness and fondness How your smile could light up a gloomy room That among all of the others, you loved what you did There are just some things that the brain can’t forget But yet, I cannot put a face to any of it It isn’t intentional, I apologize sincerely Maybe you’ll appear one day And I’ll finally get to put a face to the name that I can’t forget Or will you remain a Faceless Memory?
