eyes on me
I walk beneath a sky of glass, With every step, I hear them pass— The whispers crawling through the air, A constant weight I cannot bear. Unseen eyes haunt every turn, A silent gaze that makes me burn. Am I the puppet or the hand? I move, but do I understand? My thoughts aren’t mine, they twist and fray, Strangers’ shadows in my way. I reach for truth, for solid ground, But all I touch is lost, unsound. Who pulls the strings when I reach out? Who hears my scream, my silent shout? I wear a mask of skin and bone, Yet in this crowd, I’m still alone. I wonder where my choices lie— In trembling hands, beneath the sky? Or do they drift in realms unknown, A fleeting breath I’ll never own? So I surrender, cold and numb, To the shadows I can’t outrun. For in their gaze, I see no end, Just endless nights that will not bend.
