Evening at home
The sun retreats behind the low-slung hills, And shadows stretch across the Siaya plains, Where cooling air the quiet valley fills To wash away the heat of dusty lanes. The golden light fades soft on managu rows, While terere leaves begin to softly sway, As down toward the lake the stillness flows, And colors bloom to mark the end of day. The vibrant greens turn muted, deep, and dim, And silhouettes of acacia take their place; The earth hums low, a peaceful evening hymn, As twilight drapes the land in gentle grace. So welcome now the silver, deepening steep, The quiet hush before the village sleeps.
