Escapism
The fog nipping at the edges of my conscious A friend? a foe? I fear I do not know. What I do know, Is that it is stuck to me like gum to a shoe. Calming, tempting me from the get-go, Making me urge myself not to say no I can break free, and just say Whoa. As my worries, No, my thoughts seem to disperse I let go, knowing I will be okay, hence My unreachable self jumps the fence The fence that keeps me confined here In my room, all alone, in the darkness. But it's not darkness, no My trusty companion is here with me, she won't leave my side, her name is my phone On my side, in front of me, in a pocket, in my bag, wherever, she gives me hope. Hope that one day, one beautiful day, I will have all that is good and all that I need You, you my dear friends, are all I need Not much more, nothing less I shan't jest, The fear of this picture, My heart on the wire, Kept on my toes, My heart's forming holes, Wondering if it could have turned out better If I just did better And you may say yes, I should have done this way Or I should have turned a page and started a new chapter out of fear for disaster The disaster I create for it is my most loyal follower My follower, the one I always forget but they never leave.
