Escape (Part 2)
Would the licks of heat tickle as you slept? Maybe for once you'd be held while you wept… You lay back in the driver's seat; you drive away, the flames still alive as it pleats. It starts to rain, you cough on the dry air, an oddly mundane sort of pain. The hope drizzles down the windows and into the nearby lake. Your lips upturn at the remnants of a peaceful feeling but the natural action still feels fake. You wish you were under that pool of dread; it seems so quiet, brain full of life but maybe you'd finally feel close to dead. A lifelong dream - from being chained in the house that made you choke on your screams. The lines on your wrists, scars from the rope - lovers to enemies, a sickening book trope. And you stare at the clouds where god's tears fall from; she must be sad seeing what she's done through a hum. The sky seems so careless; the whisps and pictures prayerless, leaving god heirless. You escaped but are you really free - burdened by the unforgiving memories of being god's draftee. Click click, cocks the verbal gun - silly love, you really thought you'd won. You don't get to win when the cards were already stacked; maybe one day you'll learn your "life" was destined to be hijacked.
