Escape (Part 1)
Wheels roll down the unmarked road; an unfamiliar path in a car illegally borrowed. Luggage packed as the sun set, stars sparkling. "You have to get out of that town, darling." A sentiment said a million times; lemons make lemonade, but what do you do with your bag of limes? The night so cold, it feels like your rivers of salt crystallize - Your head is throbbing, full of years of lies A cigarette between your index and thumb - they thought you were compliant, they were so dumb. The match stick drags, you smile and watch it ignite. Their perfect princess grew up into a queen of spite. You smoke it and toss it; she always told you not to litter, you chuckle, "bullshit." The smoke dances through the sun-bleached grass. Vodka bottle lids turned into cheap rings that look like brass The metal digs in, bloody spirals spill from your fingertips - you suck off the metallic lava, the ruby tantalizing on your bruised lips. Classic photo filters never shaded your judgment, but just this moment the voices allow indulgement. You pull over as the flames get outraged - freedom is such an odd feeling after years of being caged. You resist the urge to lay amongst the blaze; the sparks irrevocably raise.
