ENVY
In shadowed valleys where whispers weep, Where envy's venom lies buried deep, Within my soul, a bitter keep, Envy's tendrils, they twist and creep. In silent glances and jealous sighs, My heart doth ache, my spirit cries, For what another hath, my desire flies, In envy's grasp, my soul abides. From lofty thrones to lowly huts, My gaze doth linger, my heart ruts, In bitter longing, my spirit struts, In envy's cloak, my vision shuts. Beneath the sun, where dreams do soar, Where blessings abound, and spirits soar, In envy's snare, I seek for more, In bitter yearning, my heart's core. For in this heart of mine, so frail, Envy's whispers, they rend and wail, In bitter envy, my soul doth pale, And in its grip, my spirit fails.
