Emily
When I was younger and not too old, Small, sweet poems were my true gold. I really liked them short and deep And reading Emily was my treat. She wrote with real originality, And wrote her poems so regularly. She wrote them often, I've been told, And wrote them very strong and bold. She crafted carefully word on word; Whether for hope, blood, love or bird. She wrote poetry almost all her life; Through both her good times and in strife. But there was one peculiarity, I've always deemed a mystery. Poems to good friends she would confide, Yet, no poems were published before she died.
