Embers of the Heart
My heart was once a flame that burned so bright, A beacon in the darkness, guiding you to my sight. But then you touched my soul, and the fire raged out of control, Leaving me with ashes, and a heart that's grown cold. Your words, they cut like knives, and left me bleeding inside, I thought our love was a sanctuary, where I could safely reside. But now I'm left to pick up the pieces of my shattered heart, And learn to tame the embers, that once burned with love's sweet start. But as I look into your eyes, I see a love that's still true, A love that whispers softly, "I'll help you heal, and see this through." With every gentle touch, you soothe my soul's dark night, And with each kiss, you fan the flames, that ignite my heart's delight. I'm learning to control the fire, to let it burn with gentle might, To trust in your love, and let it guide me through the darkest night. For with you by my side, I know I'll find my way, And together we'll tend the embers, of our love's sweet, burning flame.
