Elusive Happiness
'HAPPINESS', A word so soft on the lips yet hard to feel Easy to pronounce but difficult to embrace I have searched for happiness In every smile, in every tear In every laugh, in every fear I've chased the sun, I've braved the night But still, it flees, a fleeting light I've tried to grasp it, to hold it tight But like sand, it slips between my fingers I've looked within, I've looked outside But happiness seems to have no home with me I've worn the mask, I've played the part But deep inside, my heart is hollow I've sought for answers, I've sought the way But happiness, it seems, has eluded me. A word so soft, a word so bright Yet, in my soul, a constant night. No matter how hard I seek, Happiness eludes, leaving me meek Wandering, feeling unglued A heart that's lost, a soul that's bruised.
