Elegiac
Elegiac - expressing sorrow often for something now past I miss the days where tomorrow meant something better. Where the world didn't seem to return to a dull gray, day after dreary day. I miss having the carefree optimism of a child. When every new day truly was a new start, instead of a chance for something more harsh. I miss the weekends and summer months with my grandfather. When I was able to count down the days until I'd see him next, now instead just counting everyday steps. I find myself elegiac often. Missing things about myself and others. Almost as if I were mourning the loss of a loved one. In a sense, maybe I am. All of these things, are part of an innocence that has been taken away from me. A part of me that has died and left this world, never to be seen again.
