Echoes Where a Father Stood
I came from your life My veins course your blood Should I spill it with a knife Let it seep into the dirt and mud You were beaten and cheated Yet so are we every single day I know how badly you were treated You didn't need to leave us to stay Looked up to you when I was young Now you're nothing more than memory Like how we are now a slip of the tongue Am I supposed to forgive your treachery From 7 to 20, 13 flew like broken wings Hardest thing is to love yet be so angry Would think its easy to cut untied strings Is it wrong to speak so bland and blankly I'd say I want to be just like you Though it would mean I don't exist Are you proud of the way I grew Probably wouldn't know if I slit my wrist Funny how life is without a Dad Yet I'm fine, I realize I never needed one Don't worry I'm not really mad Its been a fine and somewhat long run Oh by the way, I love you Dad Hope I see you in heaven well I forgot to say something really sad I probably will end up in the pits of Hell
