Echoes of pretence
"People come and go, promising the world, But their words are empty, leaving me unfurled. They claim to love me, but it's just a guise, A mask that hides their true, judging eyes. I wonder if they're truly my friends, Or just pretenders till the very end. They barely know me, yet they criticize, It hurts so deeply, a painful surprise. But I should learn to expect this fate, For they all leave eventually, an unavoidable weight. Still, I hold on to hope, a glimmer of light, That someday I'll find true friends, and an end to this plight!
