Echoes of our Dreams
In the silence of the night, staring at the sky that used to hold our dreams, I'm talking to the echoes of your absence When did your halo get heavy? When did the world weigh you down and steal you away from the clouds that we used to chase together? Tell me, did you cut your wings, or did they wither under the tapestry of this life's trials? Five hundred miles from home and it feels like a thousand days since I last saw your smile. Are you ok out there? Finding your way through this stormy weather? Am I supposed to save you when I'm drowned in these rapids, gasping for breathe in the undertow of my own struggles? Look at me, chasing everything that shines even when it blinds me to the abyss lurking beneath. Do you remember when we used to dance on the edge of possibility? Young spirits wrapped in the certainty of forever, painting tomorrow in white. Do you remember those big sketches of hope we drew and those gentle strokes of ambitions we so happily brushed? Somewhere along the way those colours dulled and the canvas we shared our dreams on got torn. Life happened as it does. Responsibilities piled on our shoulders, weighing us down to the soggy ground our feet stood on.
