Echoes of Longing
My love was a storm, a tempestuous sea, Loud and desperate, clinging to thee. It kept me breathing, a wildfire's bright flare, Burning within me, a desperate prayer. But your silence, a chasm deep and wide, Swallowed my voice, my hopes inside. A distance so vast, it stole my name, Leaving only echoes, a haunting game. I filled empty hours with memories sweet, Whispering your name, a bittersweet treat. Each word a lost prayer, unanswered, unknown, In spaces unseen, I wandered alone. You were the sunlight, warming my face, The reason for smiles, in this lonely place. Yet I, a faint ember, on the edge unseen, A love unacknowledged, a heart pristine.
