echoes of a forbidden dream
I recall a love that never took form, A whisper of warmth in a world so forlorn. Your face, just a blur in the shadows of night, A fleeting mirage in the edge of my sight. Your voice, a melody lost in the breeze, A song that once played but now seems to tease. I never knew you, yet I miss you so, An aching in places where love used to grow. We danced in my dreams on the cusp of the dawn, But daylight revealed that you were long gone. A phantom embrace, a touch never felt, In the ruins of hope where I silently knelt. Were you a vision, a figment of mind, A memory crafted from fragments I find? Or were you a soul I was destined to miss, A love never known, sealed with a kiss? I wander through life with your ghost at my side, A shadow that lingers, that time cannot hide. For though we’ve never met, you live in my heart, A love that existed, yet never could start.
