Dust & Trees
For a brief moment, I saw you as you were meant to be, and I fell in love, with you, almost instantly. But with time, you picked up a mask, and hid yourself away, behind thin glass. And as it filled with a smoky haze, I watched the man, I thought I knew, he die that day. At the time, I did not realize, the tragic thing I'd saw- I watched all of your potential turn to dust, like wood cut by a saw. And as the breeze scattered the heap of dust, that at one time was such a strong and gentle man, blow away, as I tried to grasp on tightly to his dust, with both of my bare hands. But little by little, it slipped through my fingers, and away it flew, in the breeze. It was only then, I realized, the difference between saw dust and real trees. One is natural and pure, the other one, man made. It was then I realized that a piece of own heart had died, for a man, that I couldn't save.
