drowning in empty words
I scream, but the world stays quiet, A ghost of a voice lost in the riot. They nod, they sigh, they say they care, Yet when I break, no one's there. Their words are hollow, light as air, "Stay strong," they say, but they don't dare To see the weight I cannot lift, To feel the cracks, the endless rift. I drown beneath a painted sea, Of pity masked as empathy. Hands reach out, but never stay, They touch the surface, then drift away. I'm tired of "Here if you need," Of scripted kindness, empty creed. Of smiles that falter when I cry, Of comfort that’s a practiced lie. I am not your tragic muse, Your burden when it’s mine to lose. Don't call it love, don't call it grace, When all you give is hollow space. So let me sink, let me fade, Let the echoes serenade. For I have learned what silence brings— A world that listens but never sings.
