A little late night driving Where I'm driven by thoughts Of the things I have gained And the things I have lost The tragedies endured And the hard battles fought... Time, it seems, put the gray in this beard Even so, I realize my present is here And my future, mapped out Projected in my brain Luminous ahead Like my lights on this highway Feeling, for once Like some things might go my way Lest, on the way, troubles should appear Come what may, I'm steering clear It's a much safer trip On the straight and narrow route There's a clear destination Not a dirt road of doubt If it hadn't taken me so long To figure it out Home, I suppose, would already be near Nevertheless, I journey on without fear Driving, steadily driving...
