Drifting into Silence
The waves hum a song that no one sings, Carrying tales of ancient kings— I’m drifting now, no need to steer, The water’s whispers, all I hear. Bound by tides I cannot break, I see the moon, I start to wake— But do I wake, or simply fall Into the depths where none recall? The sea, it claims me in its arms, Unfolding secrets, losing charms, A world that’s lost, but somehow found, As I stand silent, feet unbound. The sky above is soft and wide, But even stars begin to hide, For what is time when the hours blur, And who am I, but part of her? Beneath me, sands will rise and fall, A dance of dust—no care at all. Yet in this stillness, soft and deep, I find the promises I keep. The autumn winds, they start to blow, Shifting all, yet leaving so— A quiet hope, a subtle shift, The world remains, but I must drift.
