Drift
In shadows cast by memories' light, I watch you drift away from sight. Your steps grow distant, lost in grace, As time erases our shared space. I see the smile that once was mine, Now brightens another's line. The laughter, warmth I used to know, Finds new echoes where you go. Each moment shared, a fading glow, In your new world, I’m left to slow. I trace the paths where we once roamed, Now empty echoes call me home. Yet in the quiet, soft and still, I wish you joy, and all you will. For love that was, though now it fades, Leaves footprints in these heart's glades. In watching you as you move on, I find my peace as night turns dawn. For love that’s true will always see, The happiness of those we leave.
