Downfall
In the heart of autumn’s crisp, cool breath, Where leaves whisper secrets of life and death, There lies a tale of a great fall’s might, Of dreams undone in the quiet night. A kingdom strong, with walls so high, A proud beacon beneath the sky. But pride, like ivy, creeps unseen, Until it cracks the strongest beam. Whispers of power, greed's soft call, Spread like shadows upon the hall. Trust betrayed, and bonds unspun, A kingdom's heart, now overrun. The king’s decree, once firm and grand, Now trembles like a shaken hand. Allies falter, foes arise, Beneath the cloak of thin disguise. Nature’s wrath, a storm’s cruel game, Matched the fury of betrayal’s flame. The walls that stood for centuries long, Crumble down like a broken song. The people fled, their hopes in shreds, Leaving behind the dreams they fed. And in the silence, after all, Stood the echoes of a mighty fall. Yet in the ruin, seeds are sown, Of lessons learned and wisdom grown. For every downfall paves the way, For a dawn of a brighter day.
