Don't touch
To be loved, To be wanted, To be everything you dream your family could be. To admire someone you're supposed to look up to, But instead, they choose to touch—not your heart, Not to show you the wonders of the world, Not to spark your desire to explore— But to touch where you don’t want to be touched. It’s not a good feeling. It’s a feeling I want to escape, But they decide for me. They touch places I didn’t ask them to, And I’m left asking, Why? Why me? What did I do? You’re supposed to be my family. You’re supposed to love me, To protect me, But instead, you touch. You silence me. You touch my mouth and tell me to stay quiet. You instill fear, whispering that no one will believe me. All I wanted was to see the wonders of the world, But instead, you locked me in a cage. Afraid of the world—afraid of what they might do— Because of what you do to me. All you do is touch.
