Don't blame Love
They say love is darker than murder. That it kills slower, Leaves scars deeper, And never bothers to bury the dead. But they never ask— Was it love that bled me dry? Or the hands that held me while holding a knife? Love never lied to me. He did. With a smile that felt like sunlight And eyes that could mimic stars, He promised forever, Then tore the pages of time. They say love is blind— But I saw clearly. I saw love waiting While he wore its mask And shattered me in its name. Don’t blame love. Love didn’t lock the door, Raise his voice, Or teach me how silence tastes like bruises. It wasn’t love that made me afraid Of the touch I once craved. It was him. The darkness in a human shape. The storm that dressed itself as shelter. Love was the light— He just stood in front of it. So next time you say Love is poison, Remember— It was the bottle you trusted That was filled with someone else’s venom.
