Domestic violence
In the walls of my home, I hide a dark secret, Am threatened not to tell, I have a reputation to uphold. But behind closed doors, I live a nightmare, I guess that's what they call hell. The bruises and scars, Hidden by the makeup I wear, My children, I protect from knowing the hell I go through in the dark. For what would they say, They consider me their idol, their world. But the truth, I cannot bear, Who can I tell, where can I hide? In silence I cry, Come and save me. For my world is dark and teary. But even in the darkness, I still have hope, Though it's dim and weak. For I know in my heart, There's a light in the dark. A world without fear, And so, I will persevere. ~Constance K Zhakata
