does true love exist
In my youth, Disney tales brought me delight, A quest for true love, a yearning taking flight, But now grown, love feels like a facade, Still, I long for it, though it feels so flawed. My partner's absence, an unchanging theme, At fifteen, I sense life's harsh regime, Too young, they say, but I comprehend, Betrayal, lies, and life's demands defend. If only true love could soothe my despair, Alone in my room, burdened with the air, In a world of real love, I'd be the prime choice, Yet I'm left waiting, unheard is my voice. The young girl's belief in boys' honest care, At fifteen, I know it's more than just air, My beloved falls short, not intentionally unkind, Perhaps I'm not valued, left with a shattered mind. I yearn for a love to lift me from this dark hole, Instead, I'm drowning, losing all control, Maybe if true love did not escape me, I'd not carry this weight, bound by one-sided throes. Does true love exist, consumed by my fears, Lost and forlorn, with no way to veer, In silence, I'll mourn, feigning love's embrace, Hiding my doubts, concealing my heart's grace.
