DNA : Did Not Ask
DNA : Did Not Ask R Becker For days that have gone From white to gray And for copies And how they decay And how everything Are things that pass And for the DNA For which I did not ask I did not ask For unnecessary storms For Love that turned out Chloroformed And who's to blame? I cannot say I guess it's in My DNA I used to think We were Blank slates But We emerge Prepackaged With a set of traits Traits for music Traits for rhyme Your traits That match These Traits of mine I thought It altogether true We'd make the world New and improved But improvements Are for Another day There's been a delay Because of our DNA Traits of anger Traits of crime Answers Trapped in These traits Of mine Why all The wreckage? I cannot say Most likely It's the DNA I never asked For shock But there it is Why didn't Opportunity knock? Well, that's show biz Sunset the dreams They're fading fast Also, Why does it All fade to black? Do I dare to ask? From light To night What can you say? It's probably In The sunset's DNA.
