DIVIDED LINES
In the heart of a city, where shadows collide, Two worlds exist, but one must divide. A line drawn in silence, a wall made of fear, Echoes of laughter, yet no one can hear. On one side, the laughter of children at play, Bright colors and dreams, where hopes find their way. The other, a whisper, a muted refrain, Where sorrow and silence dance hand in hand with pain. Fences of judgment rise tall and wide, Each brick tells a story of those who have cried. The streets are like rivers that flow with despair, As barriers linger in the cold evening air. In the classrooms adorned with bright charts and maps, Knowledge is nurtured; ambition untraps. But just down the corridor, doors tightly shut, Young minds are confined in a darkened rut. The parks bloom with flowers in radiant hues, While gardens across borders are stripped of their dues. A swing set abandoned, rusted chains lie still, As dreams left unspoken echo down the hill. Voices ring out in protests and cries, “Equality now!” they demand from the skies. Yet whispers of doubt weave through every plea, As generations struggle to break.
