Displaced
5:00 pm on a beautiful March Monday the breeze wafts the smell of life through the open window. Embrace the open flame with a first name. Glass to flame, that sudden rush. Steady chasing after the first many moons and a thousand tears, I fell victim, the pain and mistakes was clear. Like my open window, the outside held fears. Embrace the days with chemicals and fungus to escape the decay of yesterday. I chase that same dragon through soot and aluminum my brain releases into a sweet escape. Through open fields of drugs displayed. Memories no longer embraced. Soon displaced. Laced with fentanyl and rock cocaine. The devil lay awake, naked, with holes across her porcelain skin. The needle plays pretend, dances across lilies and holds the spoon under flame. Embrace the pain, decisions of yesterday. Choices and words replayed again. Displaced -
