Disappointment
Disappointment I don’t want to see the disappointment in your eyes, even though I feel like a failure — useless. Still, I want you to be proud of me. They think I put in effort, that I’m disciplined, that I will make him proud. But inside, I’m just overthinking how far I’ve fallen in my life. I reminisce about the best memories that are gone, when I was a restless kid, playing outside until sundown. I miss my old friends — the old version of myself, who was confident, smart, untouched by anything rough. Disappointment hits hard. And if I fall short once more, I’ll drown beneath the weight I already bear.
